Disable Crash Reporter

Crash Reporter normally shows a dialog when an application has an unrecoverable error, on some systems it may be preferable to hide this dialog.

To implement this tweak:

  1. Start a new Terminal session (in Finder click Applications > Utilities > Terminal).

  2. To set this to Disabled, type (or copy and paste) the following command:

defaults write com.apple.CrashReporter DialogType -string "none"
  3. To reset this setting to the default value, type (or copy and paste) the following command:

    defaults delete com.apple.CrashReporter DialogType
  4. Close the Terminal session by typing exit at the prompt.
